It usually crashes, when it crashes, which it does maybe 20% of the
time, when someone's logging in or out.

It crashed for me this morning when I logged in,

What I wrote down was
panic: asynchronous memory fault: MFSR=80004020 MFAR=27f9e10

What I had reported earlier was
panic: asynchronous memory fault: MFSR=81004020 MFAR=27f9e10

Not sure if it really was 80004020 this time or if it was an error, or
if the arlier 81004020 was in error.

It probably was 80004020, I had a while to look at it, since the next
message was "DMA error on dma" as it tried to dump core, followed by
...SCSI transport failed: ... 'tran_err'
...SCSI transport failed: ... 'reset'

Hope this gives you something to go on to repare this.
