Hello everyone.
I received a strange call today from one of the professors teaching in 14-0637
next week that there is asbestos removal going on there and he doesn't
want to teach in that room. So JJ and I walked down there and found the
room actually quite clean with no signs of asbestos removal.
But, we found out that the two electrical outlets in the front of the room
are disabled. They get fed from the room next door (14-0645 I think), which
is now being converted to a computer room for the Libraries. We were able to
get an extension cord from the electricians and I've left signs in the room
that those outlets are not working and that instructors should use the
extension cord for overhead projectors, or whatever else they need.
I was about to send a note to Doug Goulet about notifying me when and if
anything affects any the electronic classrooms when he called me to say that
in fact, the chilled water shutdown in the room next door WILL affect
14-0637. So I've scheduled a maintenance shutdown in 14-0637 on Tuesday 1/10
from 1-4pm. Doug will let me know (with hope) if they need more time, or if
they can't do it on Tuesday.
Also, he will look into the wiring as those outlets should be fed from the
panel in the room anyway and not form the room next door. It was wired
incorrectly to begin with. Surprise, surprise :)
JJ, please feel free to add to this if I've missed anything.
Maryam
