Reason:
We request a bldg 46-5th floor BCS wing chilled water shutdown from 5 AM to 9 AM on Thursday, August 15th, 2013 for the demo of the remaining abandoned chilled water piping that fed the removed environmental rooms in 5013 and as part of the 46-5013 Prof Choi Lab renovation project by Wise Construction (Chris Luongo 781-389-5749). Sudy Nally 8-8010 and Biss Teelucksingh 2-5972 are the MIT project managers.
We will be installing isolation valves off the corridor supply/return mains and therefore all of the BSC wing's 5th floor will be affected including environmental rooms. If there are additional environment rooms in the affected area (and there are at least two), Steve Roberts of Harris Environmental will be on-site before/during/after the chilled water shutdown to properly secure and restart those rooms (5007, 5042 cold rooms).
Dear all, per Harris Environmental, a 5th floor BCS chilled water shutdown would not affect remaining 5th floor constant temperature boxes. The 5013 environmental rooms where not typical for bldg 46, with chilled water to the local condenser/compressor. All remaining constant temp rooms condensers/compressors are in the penthouse and won't be affected by this shutdown, Billy H. 8-0432
Effect:
Loss of chilled water, condenser water, and supply cooling air for the duration of the shutdown.
