Connie,
The 38-600 cluster will need at "least one" VSII/RC for use of a print-server.
Here is the problem:
There are three VS2000's: (1.) pal5 print-server for pal-ln03
(2.) pal6 print-server for pal-ps
(3.) pal11 print-server for pal-hp
These workstations are currently serving the dual purposes of
workstations/print-servers. (As you know, Operations no longer supports
this type of set-up.)
Connie, Don Troxel (who phoned Athena, rm. 36-683, 3-2570),
and Marty Hughes (rm 38-601, 3-4674), will need to be notified
as to what needs to be done and all other information pertaining
to the equipment (ie, whether they need to be swapped, what
about network addresses, etc.)
---------------------------------------------------------------
Op People,
Once we have the appropriate machine(s) for print-servers, these will
need 7.0F print-server software installed on them.
Please note: pal5, (for pal-ln03), is a non-postscript printer.
AND...pal5 and pal6 are currently at 6.3B
(ps- you'll be notified when the equipment is ready :-)
-----------------------------------------------------------------
Lenny, Carlton and Op People,
Warning: The three printers are not relatively near each other.
Configuring one print-server for 3 printers may require some creative,
(if not extensive), electrical wiring.
As it is now, 2 printers are next to each other, but the other is
across the room. Would it be a good idea to move this printer over?

Thanks,
rita (hardware hotline)
