Accomplishments this period:
- Deployed Sun's Disksuite on the master, mirroring critical disk
partitions on to two newly-installed external disks.
- Disabled automatic purging of accounting files; the team will take
responsibility for cleaning them up after each term.
- Implemented desired platform(s) field to the group/user record.
- Implemented changes to allow user accounts to be added directly
to certain groups in the quota database on the master, so the
administrator does not have to wait for the group feed from Moira.
- Continued development of capacity analysis tool.
- Implemented initial version of a new wrapper script performing
common operations.
- Continued to update internal and user documentation.
- Completed first draft of new sign-up form.
- Implemented a utility to purge old accounts from the quota database.
- Deployed latest software.
Goals for next period:
- Complete sign-up software, including capacity checker.
- Complete maintenance utilities.
- Contact faculty/courses who expressed interest in using the service
this term.
- Update and review documentation.
- Document disaster recovery procedures.
- Prep work for roll-out.
Issues:
- Staffing shortages have delayed some of the support prep work needed
for the official roll-out; if we need to delay the roll-out, we can
continue to support the current "test" level of service.
