General

Mohammad Sharari takes on project manager role, replacing Bill Fitzgerald.
Load data, discovered software issues that need to be resolved.
Started testing ArcIMS, the Internet Mapping Server software.
Accomplishments during September and October:

- Mohammad compiled status updates from active team members.
- Worked with the Libraries to develop a plan for creating the GIS
Lab to be housed in Rotch Library.
- Developed proposal to furnish the Lab with computer hardware and
software.
- Tested ArcIMS (web browsing) software on arrowsmith.
- loaded data into ArcSDE for data loading and extracting tests.
Goals for November:

- Submit formal proposal for GIS Lab to Libraries.
- Formalize startup and shutdown procedure for production server.
- Continue working on SLA with Athena OPS.
- Formalize backup strategy for production server.
- Continue working on project manuals.
- All members meeting.
- Develop protocols for creating metadata
- solve SDO (Oracle) data loading issues.
Issues:

- Who decides what data will be loaded on production server.
- Who pays for storage expansions of the system, when needed.
- Authentication/authorization issues with licensed data.

- meet with ITAG to consider ArcIMS integration issues.
