Project Name: HR-Payroll Project
Project Leader: Dan Fitzgerald
Report Date: Aug 31, 2001
URL: http://web.mit.edu/is/delivery/hrpayroll/

Accomplishments in Aug
-----------------------------------------
- Focus for much of Aug was stabilizing the new production system. This
entailed data cleanup, on-site support for Benefits offices on campus and at
Lincoln Lab, and testing electronic feeds to health/dental carriers. User
acceptance of system has been terrific but only in last few days of August
have
we cleaned up data to a reasonable level where carrier feeds can be sent
electronically.
- Planning for next implementation teams commencing in the fall. Planning
includes resource assignment, recruitment of new team members, scheduling
training, producing team scope statements and drafting initial time lines.
- Process teams for core HR functions related to tracking of employment
history
are in-progress. Each of the 5 teams are on schedule.
- Unique New Hire process review teams for Lincoln Lab and campus performed a
compare-contrast of future state. Some critical differences were highlighted
but several components were very similar.
- IVR vendor Talx connected and testing against MIT development system, SF/2.
- Planned business and system support for Benefits Open Enrollment in
November,
including receiving support from BLT team.
- Conducted volume testing of Web-based benefits transactions. Conducted
Accessibility test of Web transactions and received positive response from
tester.

Goals for Sept
-------------------------
- Startup of implementation teams for Educational Assistance and Organization
Management.
- Four additional business process teams formed and 1st meeting scheduled for
each.
- Move into MIT Testing of Talx system. This is against vendor system and
MIT's
SAP integration system.
- Complete User Acceptance and final Volume testing of Web-based Open
Enrollment transactions.

Issues
- Challenging to attain goal of 3:1 ratio of MIT employees to consultants
working full-time on project. This is an internal goal set by myself and other
managers of project.
