This is the final Delivery report for the Wireless project. Early
in July 2001 the MIT Wireless LAN Project effectively completed the
deployment of 209 wireless access points covering over 200 locations
in 39 buildings around the campus. This project has extended
wireless access to MITnet in most classroom and library spaces as
well as many public spaces across campus. Additional access points
will be deployed in some areas currently undergoing renovation. Over
the next year, IS will observe the performance of the wireless LAN
and modify support and service accordingly.

This will be the final report for the Wireless project as the work
now will be moving into operational mode.

Accomplishments for past period (July 1, 2001 to July 31, 2001):

- Updated the location/coverage page
- Completed support/service/operational plan
- Completed Business Model
- Completed documentation including completion of Win 95/98/ME configuration
- Completed financial report
- Completed Year 1 Final Report

As the work moves into operational mode, work will continue.
- Get final approval for policy statement and guidelines: these
guidelines are drafted and referenced in the final report.
- There are still some areas that have not be completed due to
construction for renovations. These areas will be completed as the
space becomes accessible.
- PR for fall 2001
- Assess staffing requirements for support and service as the use
increases in the next year.

Issues: Policy and guidelines approval seems to be stalled.
