General
Continue to deliver training, consulting, and faculty outreach.
Completed general set up of server. We are starting to load data.
Continue to refine budget and balance resources.
Looking for students to help with metadata work and network testing.
Have started planning for Phase 1 release.
Accomplishments during June
Finalized Tom Grayson's involvement on project, met with Professor
Ferreira to arrange Tom's schedule for the project.
Established space for Tom in N42, set up his computer.
Published Phase 1 Delivery announcement.
Garry Zacheiss loaded Athena 9.0 early release on Arrowsmith.
Garry Zacheiss installed RAID array on Arrowsmith.
Tom Grayson and Miki Lutszig loaded Oracle 8.1.7 on Arrowsmith.
Tom Grayson loaded ArcSDE 8.1 on Arrowsmith and Carto.
Daniel Sheehan started to load data on Arrowsmith.
Established web presence with project notebook, began loading information.
Goals for July
Daniel Sheehan will start to work with the new Libraries' GIS
specialist. Help to acclimate her to MIT and introduce her to
appropriate faculty.
Arrange for and begin network testing.
Start to examine metadata issues, looking for student support.
Begin discussions around authentication.
Daniel Sheehan will continue to load data.
Tom Grayson and Miki Lutszig will load and test Apache on the
production machine.
Tom Grayson and Miki Lutszig will load and test map server software
on the production machine.
Accelerate documentation efforts.
Issues
Some members of the team will away for significant periods during
July. This will impact progress during the month.
Because of outside issues (delivery of the RAID array, etc) we are
more than one week behind schedule. However, we still anticipate
being able to roll out a pilot server by the end of the summer.
