Accomplishments for past period (May 1, 2001 to May 31, 2001):
- Brief update to I/T Partners meeting on May 15, 2001
- Brief roundtable update to *MG meeting on May 3, 2001
- Began discussions on how to handle requests for new access point
installations.
- Completed web documentation and posted to
http://web.mit.edu/is/help/wireless on May 18, 2001
- Kerem, Mary Ellen and Joanne documented Support Plan and work flow
and posted a draft to the project notebook on May 23, 2001
- Global completed 10-250 wiring the week of May 3, 2001
- Project Review with Bob Ferrara, Director of IS Delivery Process May 22, 2001
- Chris completed the configurations for the W20 access points.
- Global installed the remaining 2-3 more drops in W20.
- W20 work was completed.
- E25 wiring and access point installations completed.
- Global - completed wiring for Building 14 (complete Phase 1)
- Global - did walk through for Phase 2
- Completed agreement for Phase 2 installation (165 access points)
including negotiations for wiring contractor
- Phase 1 is complete with the exception of these some access points
in building 14
- Received contract for Phase 2 from Innovative Network Solutions (INS)
- Began Phase 2 wiring and access point installation. Phase 2 is 3-
to 40% complete including the access point installations.
- The survey for Phase 3 is 85% complete
- Obtained keys to closets and access to Master Keys for contractors.
This has sped up the wiring and installation work.
Goals for next period June 1, 2001 to June 30, 2001
- Complete remaining access point installations in Building 14.
- Complete wiring and installations in Phase 2 and Phase 3
- Draft i/s article announcing service - as soon as there are one or
two access points available.
- Complete draft Service Plan
- Begin Business Plan
- Meet with the new Tel/Network process Director
- Begin to write "press release" (all web pages must be ready)
- Begin to write project final report
Issues:
There are some areas that are more complex and require some extra
work to complete the installations.
