Project Name: HR-Payroll Project
Project Leader: Dan Fitzgerald
Report Date: May 5, 2001

General
----------
- Benefits module is 1st roll out of HR, planned for summer of 2001. Project
team prepared for integration testing which occurs week of May 7th. Both
business users and team members will be active testing through out the week.
Full conversions were accomplished in SAP development and integration test
environments.
- Kickoff of sub-project of Benefits, the IVR implementation with vendor Talx,
occurred. This component is required for the November Benefits Open Enrollment
period.
Accomplishments in April
-----------------------------------------
- Business Process Review: Applicant Tracking and Employment Verification
teams
completing drafts of final recommendations. Both teams presented findings and
conclusions to project sponsors. Organization Management process team
completed
data gathering for the building of a SAP prototype for Lincoln Lab, Dept of
Facilities and School of Engineering's org structure. SAP configuration is
in-progress. Also the Personal Changes process team kicked off.
- Benefits team completed unit testing, completed configuration documentation,
transported configuration and development to integration test environment.
Training, testing and conversion plans drafted.
- Negotiated final pricing with Interactive Voice Response vendor Talx.
Assembled MIT and Talx persons for sub-project team. Kicked off team with 2
day
Spec meeting.
- Submitted projection of project costs through fiscal year-end.
Goals for May
-------------------------
- Successful integration test for Benefits roll out.
- Complete SAP QA for Benefits configuration.
- Finalize training plan for Benefits roll out. Develop detailed conversion
schedule for Benefits.
- Daily Cyborg to SAP interface assigned and designed.
- Approval of remaining Process Teams, their sequence and timing.
Issues
--------
- Development of an organization to support Benefits post go-live while at
same
time kick off several business process teams. The process teams require key
persons currently assigned to Benefits team. One solution is always to hire
more SAP consultants but this is high cost and does not build knowledge and
expertise in MIT's staff.
Additional comments
--------------------------
- None.
