Report Date: 03/02/2001
Project Notebook: http://web.mit.edu/is/delivery/enterprint/
Accomplishments for the past period:
- submitted long range accounting enhancements list to IBM
- negotiated with ASO for ongoing LPRng support
- decided to pull IBM's distribution of Apache on the web server in
favor of MIT's distribution to simplify certificate implementation;
Miki Lusztig was very helpful with a fast & successful installation;
Jody & Miki got SSL working on both servers
- Business & Financial Models: identified one-time project labor
costs; produced 12 months of mainframe printing accounting data
as input into setting the baseline; received cost estimates from
Support; more reorganization of the BM
- with help from Garry & Jody, got klpd to write files to directory
- worked with Pete Kelley & Jody to figure out a solution to IPM
header page and media for print files
- VM-SST installed the VM APAR to allow mainframe AFP printing
to networked attached printers
- submitted new PCR to IBM for print distribution and accounting work
Goals for the coming period:
- complete Business & Financial Models including rates, "at this time
costs" (carry over)
- complete final draft of the overview documentation for operations;
the "how-to" documentation is on hold due to the shift to a
browser interface
- verify patches and fixes for media problem
- start work on AFP pieces for MITSIS
- obtain better understanding and document SAP header page issues
- test the newly installed mainframe AFP APAR for network printing
- continue testing web interface
- finish IPM accounting interface (carryover)
- work with ASST to get KLPR running on Plunder and Pillage (carryover)
Issues:
It's taking IBM much longer to complete their contract coding work
than anticipated.
Key learnings:
none
Team dynamics:
FBC is still being tugged into other work.
Additional comments:
From our FBC team member: This has been a learning experience for me.
I have done much research as to what a Business Plan is and what
it should include. I have found what I think to be a good model for how
it should be done for future IS projects. I've used this project as a
learning experience and hope we will produce a quality document.
