One remaining goal of the delivery project was to find a solution to the
looping back to NameConnector when all lines were busy. At first, we
considered an ACD solution, but we could not implement this without losing
console functionality. We then considered programming other buttons on the
consoles to forward these calls, but that was not technically feasible.
Finally, we came up with a solution that uses a supervised voice mailbox to
handle the calls and "all busy" lines. The flow chart for this has been
completed and is posted as a pdf on the project notebook web page. An
addendum to the final report is also posted listing the completion of this
final task.
Learnings:
The best solutions are not always the most technically sophisticated or the
most obvious. Once we stepped back and started to consider some of the
more common tools available to us a solution was possible.
If a technical person is required for a part of the project and they either
do not have time, or are not particularly motivated by the project, it can
take a long time to solve an relatively easy problem.
