----

Hiring Status
We're closest ever to being fully staffed!

Project DB:

Change to hide Completed and Terminated projects is pending.
ITLT is working on prioritization of projects and ongoing work.
They are cooking a spreadsheet with this information.
Perhaps this information is best placed in an augmented Project DB.

ITLT Report
E19 Disaster Recovery testing project has been picked up.
Apparently the project has become rather 'political'.
Viki Siriani (head of phys plant) is currently in charge.
  Priorities:
Relating 5 year plan to priorities
    Initially looked just at projects.
Ongoing work is being added to the stew.

Cartel:
wdc gave brief (very brief) cartel report.
Cartel is a technical exchange between MIT and sister schools
  that run similar computing environment.
It was a good chance to share experience and understandings.

Proposed IS Project Team Staffing Process
Bob handed out a one page doc describing a proposed process
for creating and staffing a project team.
  Key points:
Invitations to inside and outside IS are part of the process.
Sharing what was learned in a project is part of it too.
Formal announcement of project start-up happens after invitation
      to participate.
It was suggested that announcements of new projects and status might fall
by the wayside if they didn't do staffing through this process.

Service Process discussion:
Roger visited and we went over Delivery projects with Service impacts.
Roger distributed his previous Quarterly report, and we discussed some
    issues as well.
Side note: Service encompasses **MANY** teams.

----

President's Report Material
Brainstormed raw input that Bob will turn into his submission for the
  President's report.

----

Roundtable:

wade: Adonis (formerly ADDS, listed in project db under the name of
addstrat) is moving forward. Some issues emerging with Mac desktop
platform. Looking for Late Aug/Early Sep roll-out. Reliance on
Oracle 8 is an issue.

Accepting bids on replacing Scopus (rewrite as a powerbuilder
application). The bids seem high. Working to understand why.

Departments are now in the online directory.

--

janat: Telephone integration with SAP is right on track, but now
someone is interested in expanding the scope of the work.

--

rclarke: SAP Web - galloping towards Sept 1 roll out for creation and
editing of requisitions on the web. Usability testing takes place
during August.

Y2k: Hired one person, and filling two slots. Expect work will
involve outreach within MIT and to the outside world, demonstrating
conversion projects, and educating. Example: Office of Sponsored
programs is getting y2k requirements that some labs sign off on
not assessing whether or not they are compliant.

--

reidmp: psalms -- (mail services subscription project) held first
delivery meeting.

--

rferrara: quarterlies are due.
