Subject: A Little Bit on Infolan
Does Infolan have a gateway to the NSFnet? CIX? ANS?
Is it a full packet gateway? Just electronic mail? Some
other kind of gateway?
You didn't say on com-priv, and we all are interested!
thanx -len

Mats makes the following comment regarding Infolan:
>Internet access to the open DNS supported Internet is not
>part of their offering.
Infolan are also marketing their service in Australia, and
here they are claiming the ability to deliver Internet
access via a link to PSI. I have not checked out this claim
as to its accuracy!

I was not sufficiently clear about Infolan's connection to
Internet.
Infolan has no physical connection to the NSFnet or ANS. We have
a physical connection to PSI but are not members of CIX so we
cannot exchange traffic with CERF or Alternet. We don't exchange
traffic with PSI yet either since no one has asked for it.
Our connection to PSI is a full packet gateway. We pay PSI
tariffs, just as any other end user/host. Thus we say we have an
Internet connection, but Internet connectivity is not our
business. Our business is Internet technology, provided as a
commercial service, worldwide. When a business case is made, we
will change our Internet connectivity arrangements.
Infolan's customers who desire Internet connection pay us a
surcharge. Further, customers who want to use the PSI gateway
are required to sign the NSF AUP, which is kept in our files,
even if our user only wants to address PSI commercial ports.
