What you said time a zillion. I've just about given up on recommending any sort
of IP provider to private clients, including RE (mostly E) orgs who want IP
access. Since I've been on this list (a damn short time, I'll admit) I've not
seen too much in the way of honest answers to honest questions. I asked one
quetion that got a good answer, but others have just floated away into the bit
bucket or got the infamous "Marketing will call" response.
Is there soooooo much profit in this industry (and what do we produce?) that
folks (with money to spend) can be ignored, flamed etc, etc???? If marketing is
so busy that they can't call back, hire some more suits. Give them a quota to
work towards and hope the increase in business justifies their employment.
Perhaps part of the problem (with flames and bad tempers and other like) is
that a lot of us grew-up on the Internet, we think of it as family and don't
want to see others mess with it. And that e-mail removes very significant
non-verbal clues from the communications process. Physical, face-to-face
communication is a lot easier than this `virtual' e-mail stuff. We all know
this, but it may be time for a gentle reminder.
