Well, but what if the auto-canceller has better connectivity than them
(more/faster feeds)?  And in any case, we're talking about retroactive
moderation.  We could very easily change the news server software so
that articles were merely queued until an approval/disapproval message
arrived.  Disapproved messages would be deleted.  So, anyone could
subscribe to alt.spam.spam.spam.NOT if they didn't want to be spammed.

   more and more nodes on the net do not have the ability to do such things
   (ie. not all PC or Mac programs support that).

C&S are a computer virus infecting Usenet.  We have viral
anti-infection programs for stand-alone computers.  Why not one for
connected computers?
