After a month of lurking, I am finally compelled to post (all the
while praying I'm doing it right).

Yes, it is confusing at first, but it's hardly pointless; with the
patience to actually _read_the_posts_, one cannot help but settle
into the rhythm of each thread and actually learn a thing or two.
I certainly have. And at the risk of adding nothing whatsoever of
value here, I simply want to thank the regular posters of com-priv
for putting forth such a wealth of literate, well-considered
information and thought-provoking ideas.
As far as credentials go, I don't give a hoot about titles,
degrees, or affiliation-identifying initials after one's name.
It's obvious when a person knows the subject he's talking about,
and when he doesn't. I salute the Internet as the Great Equalizer.
But, for the record:
ACTUAL, REAL NAME: Joyce Rogers
ACTUAL JOB TITLE: Corporate Communications Specialist
ACTUAL COMPANY: Network General Corporation
CREDENTIALS:
1) Too many hours spent exploring the Internet. 2) Many more hours
spent talking with people who exploit the Internet. 3) The recent
completion of a lengthy report on the pros and cons of business use
of the Internet - which could never have been as complete or
well-structured without a good deal of inspiration from com-priv.
WHAT I ACTUALLY DO: Most of the time, market analysis; lately,
selling the idea of, and preparing to install, an ftp server for my
company.
WHAT ELSE I DO: Write books on subjects having nothing to do with
the Internet.
