Seriously, asking for credentials ranges from useless to somewhat informative
depending on what you're looking for. In terms of technical content,
it tends to matter not at all what pieces of paper you hold. It's pretty
easy to figure out who's on the ball and doing things. If you're looking
at things from the political aspect, then knowing who someone is has some
bearing in judging what angle they're coming from.
As for who's on com-priv, the answer is "just about everyone".
It ranges from executives of UUNET and PSI (Rick and Marty) to random
users of access services who have some interest in the field.
And just about everything in between.
Me, I am a systems and network administrator for CRL, a moderately
large account and service provider. I do not make policy decisions
for CRL and my postings do not represent the company, but I am in the
business.
For your information, Joeseph Stroup is a user here, not an employee,
so he doesn't represent the company either 8-)
