Steve,
Regarding the reaction of the old timers to the recent invasion of the Internet by AOL users you state:
<A society reflects the shared values of its members. With lots of new
members why are we surprised by change? One purpose of education is to
communicate and promulgate a society's ethical values.>
But do not the politically correct pundits of multiculturalism teach
us that there are no shared ethical values? That all points of view
and all behaviors are equally valid? Who's to say that on-line boorishness
is not just another form of protected self-expression?
Goodbye cyber-melting pot, hello cyber-tossed salad :)
