Glenn,
The fact that no other CIX members (board members or otherwise) have
commented on the current com-priv discussion cannot be safely interpeted
as a sign of agreement OR disagreement with Karl's views. It is more
likely that these providers are quite busy, and engaging in such discussions
is not a priority compared to other business at hand. Each member has their
own business to attend to and one would expect the Executive Director
(Bill Washburn) has to focus his efforts on prospective members.
There are more pressing issues before the CIX than discussions on com-priv,
and it shouldn't surprise anyone that addressing the needs of the members
comes first. Engaging in meaningful discussion on public mailing lists
has a real cost and your need for continuous dialogue may not be the best
investment of the CIX's finite resources. Perhaps the CIX should up its
fees by another $2K per member so that a professsional PR contact can be
available for com-priv inquisitions?
