Anyone connected to their NSS by an Ethernet can take advantage of the
T3. This means first of all the campuses (such as Stanford in the case
of BARRNet) that host the T3 connections, second any sites connected
by Ethernet microwaves or other Ethernets.
After that, there is the possibility of going to multiple T1s
connecting sites to the T3 hubs, before finally going to T3.
BARRNet has not yet decided whether to add T3 in the next year but it
is more likely than not on at least one of our core links.
It is not incorrect however to postulate that when campus FDDI lans
are widespread T3 will be an absolute necessity (if not already
inadequate!)
