Hey folks:

This flaming at Abernathy about his articles is getting rather dull.
OK, his article had errors. But almost any piece by the press has errors
because of deadlines and the fact that most reporters, however careful, are
usually not experts in the field they report on. Some of the errors
were significant (such as confusing how much is spent on NREN vs.
High-Performance Computing in general) and probably deserved a widely
circulated correction. But I, for one, could do without the nasty comments.

If you don't like him, don't deal with him. (Or take a different tack --
JFK reportedly spent more of his time dealing with Time Magazine than almost
other news publication, even though it gave him the worst press. His goal
was to try to blunt the sharp edge of Time's editorial slant -- See David
Halberstam's book "The Powers that Be").
