1. The system software rebuild seems to have recreated a version of the
problem we saw last week so Sun was called to come in and try to fix the
problem.
2. The database... Seems that a bug in the GMA conversion software
clobbered the first field/tag combination after the 035. In some
records that meant an 037$a, or an 040$a, or in Acq. records the 100$a
was missing. This requires that Geac do a re-extract and re-indexing of
the database. This amounts to all but re-doing the GMA. Geac has
started the re-extraction of the data in Toronto. Depending on emmy's
state on Monday, we may get the extracted files from Geac and do the
re-indexing on Emmy. This should be faster than having the job done in
Toronto.
In the meantime, if we have the disk space available, we will put up the
test database (pre-GMA2). We'll have more on our plans next Monday.
I know this has been a difficult and discouraging couple of weeks. I
want to thank everyone for their diligence in looking at the data and
their good humor in the face of the problems we've encountered. We WILL
get this done.
