Advance will be generally unavailable while Geac works to fix some data
problems. We hope to have it generally available by Friday afternoon.
We're doing this so that changes to data files that Geac makes can be
recovered just before we go live. We'll also be working to restore the
old test database so that it can be used without interruption for
training and other testing purposes.
We can make limited exceptions to this unavailable status, but only with
the understanding that no data should be changed.
You will continue to able to access the database through the opac user
since that does not allow changes to the data. When you telnet with
Host Presenter just enter opac as the login and a carriage return as the
password. From athena you'll need to use the -l option with telnet:
athena% telnet -l opac emmy.mit.edu
Ignore the kerberos messages and just hit a carriage return when asked
for a password. It should take you in.
