Ad-Cat: Please look this over. I would like to send this to Miriam in
the next hour. Send me changes, corrections ASAP. Thanks!

Miriam,

The Cataloging Implementation Group met this afternoon to go
over PSR1317 and assign priorities to each of the items in our loader
specification. You mentioned yesterday that all of the coding
involved in PSR1317 might take 3 months to complete. While we
ultimately need all parts of the specification completed for us to be fully
functional, we have identified several items which we consider
'DROP DEAD HIGH' priority that we must have before loading can go
live:
          I.A.1

I.A.2 For each $a in the 019, add the prefix 'ocm" and add
leading zeros to create a fixed length 019 field with
numeric characters. Map each occurrence of 019 $a to
                $a in separate 035 fields.

          I.A.3
          I.B.1
          I.B.2
          I.B.3
          I.B.3.a
          I.B.3.b
          I.B.4
          III.C.
          IV.

The following spec items are 'medium' priority.

          III.A.
          III.B.

The remaining items in the spec are 'low' priority. These must be
completed before we can sign off on the loader. Please note the
change in wording and the selection of our preferred option in II.B.:

I.A.2.Match each occurrence of 019 $a against the CN index.
Strip the 019 field from the incoming record.

II.B. OPTION 1 modified as follows: 'Cancel' command records:
The cancel holdings transaction is utilized when all
copies of a title are withdrawn from the MIT Libraries
collections. Therefore, when the record has (x03) in
offset 22 of the leader, the cancelled record should check
for matches in the 001 and 035 fields. IF A MATCH IS
FOUND, OVERWRITE THE EXISTING RECORD AND MOVE THE
                RECORD TO THE DELETE WORKFILE.
