For those of you who long to commune with the Advance OPAC (and who
among us doesn't?), I thought I might add a few comments to Grant's
message of last night.
Grant said:
If you use Host Presenter or otherwise telnet directly from your
machine you will get the standard login prompt on emmy and enter your
regular emmy password, so far nothing has changed.
Nina says:
People have already been asking me about this. Those of us who have
been involved in testing have individual passwords. If you have a
password, you already know what it is. If you know nothing about a
password, this paragraph does not apply to you.
Grant said:
If you telnet from Athena, the default telnet will pass your username
along and automatically log you into emmy. If you want to get in
under your usual athena name and have your regular permissions this is
fine.
Nina says:
This means that you type "telnet emmy" at the athena prompt and you
are immediately logged in with the privileges assigned to you by
Grant. For opac-lib, this means that you will be connected to the
OPAC in staff mode, not the way users will be seeing it. Again, if
you have not been assigned a personal Advance password, this does not
apply to you.

Nina says:
After you do this, you will be prompted to type in a password. Don't
type in anything, just hit a carriage return. In case you forget, as
I just did, and put in a password, you will get this message:
Login incorrect
login:
You don't have to kill the job and start all over again; just log in
as opac and hit carriage return when prompted for the password.
If anyone has OPAC questions, please direct them to your unit's
opac-lib member or myself.
