GMA2 testing

Greetings, group.

Based on the current schedule, the "intensive, compressed" testing
will start June 13. That's when we get the second (real) GMA back.

We need to test the migrated data, and also test functionality.

We'll get reports from Systems of data to check; i.e., extracts of
different types of transactions and data which exist on GLIS right
before the migration. Then we can see how the data migrated and see
if it's accurate or not. I especially want to see how things like
brief record transactions migrate (such as a charge transaction on a
Music Library brief record).

As for functionality testing, I propose a broader, speeded up version
of the testing that many of us have been involved in thus far. Test
forms have, so far, been generated by me, Michael, Anne, and the
reserves group -- Ginny, Judy, David. Using the same tests we've
already come up with, we (the above-named people) send out new forms
covering the same things, and we should try to get everyone on the
group involved.

For example: I'm in charge of test forms for "checkout". I have a
large pile of forms, each representing one test; I filled out the test
to be done, gave it to someone, and he/she did the test, recorded the
results on the form, and sent it back to me. I will do another set of
forms, and have the same tests done at multiple locations. We will do
"basic" tests [such as "check out a GEN1 item to a P-card patron.
Try to renew it. No renewals should be permitted"], but also focus on
tests which didn't work out right before and have supposedly been
fixed.

I will be in touch with Anne, Michael, David, Judy, and Ginny to
discuss the mechanics of this. Everyone in the Advance circ group
should be alerted that starting June 13 and ending about June 20, our
big priority will be this "concentrated" testing. Based on this
testing, we basically accept or reject the GMA. So, it's very
important. If you get test forms in the mail with "GMA2" written on
them, please try to do these tests fast! All the other functional
groups will be doing the same thing.

Questions, comments, discussion? I'm sorry there isn't time to
schedule a meeting on this, we'll just have to discuss via e-mail.
Thanks. -AP
