FYI: Here is a copy of the message sent to the Divisional Library folks
today. I didn't copy you on the message to avoid misleading you into
thinking you were all supposed to attend. This is our communication effort
that was mentioned this week to bring the Div. Libs. into the loop, and to
get all of us thinking about processing implications for serials and
acquisitions. We'll hope to get a critical mass of people together, and
perhaps I'll have a report soon. MGM

The Acquisitions/Serials Implementation Team has been working hard to
figure out the options for use of Geac Advance with our needs at MIT.
As you might imagine, this is more straightforward in some areas than
others.
Charlene, Ellen and I would like to invite you to a discussion of
impacts on workloads in divisional and central units given what we
currently know about Advance and its requirements and options. In some
cases, we feel pretty certain that we've figured out the most feasible
option for MIT, and in other cases, we're still discovering how Advance
works as we try out different scenarios.
We think this would be a good time to share what information we have
with you and get us all thinking about how workloads might be impacted
by Advance. We will continue exploring, testing, and training through
May and June, so the time is right for this next stage of thinking.
Although it will be difficult to find any one time that accommodates
everyone, we are offering three possible meeting times next week, and
will go with the one that brings us the largest group.
Please check for 1 1/2 hour blocks within these times:
Tuesday, 5/9, 9-12
Wednesday, 5/10, 12-2 (yes, a brown bag lunch)
Thursday, 5/11, 3:30-5
Thanks for checking your calendars and getting back to me as soon as
possible!
