Sorry it took me so long to report on Peter's & my training session
last week. Peter's version may be different from mine, but I thought
it went pretty well. I agree that asking people to log in but stay
together was totally unworkable; they just didn't. I think in my next
session I'll opt for a quick general overview, some focus on some
important "hidden" features (eg OPAC parms, modify search), and then
lots of hands on. I thought the thing that worked well for us was,
during the hands-on part, if someone did a search which demonstrated
an interesting feature or problem, one of us would repeat the search
on the monitor and talk about what happened & why. Also we had a
broad cross-section of staff, so Peter ended up doing a lot of basic
Boolean; be prepared to do that.

The monitor turns on just as you'd turn on any computer monitor; no
special procedures.

People also really wanted to see how to load emmy as a profile into
their own personal host presentor. I'd like to write this up for the
FAQ, except I can't remember how to create a separate icon. Eric,
maybe you & I can take 15 minutes, you could show me how to do this &
I'll write up the procedure. But, I think we might consider including
this in our training for staff. (For those of you who don't know what
I'm talking about: as part of Host Presentor setup, you can set up
emmy as a host and then you can connect directly without having to
take time to login to athena first.)

Summary: it was kind of fun.

Nina
