Lan WorkPlace has some color display capabilities that I tried but it seems
not to work with the terminal display characteristics set up on emmy. It's
one of those nasty kinds of compatibility issues you get when you put
things on a network and use machines that aren't fully attuned to each
other. If we really tried to utilize color as part of the OPAC displays
we'd likely have probably have problems with people telnetting in to use
Barton with a variety of unknown terminal emulations. Advance doesn't
really support various terminal emulations very well. Color is not a
feature that is well supported in telnet sessions.

I understand the very real desire and need for color but from a technical
standpoint it would take too much time to get it to work and delay
solutions to other functional needs we have for the migration to work.
Also, using the Advance catalog is a stop-gap until GeoPac is ready in its
full glorious color. Right now our priority has be to get it to work
fully, rather than make it pretty.
