Thank you, Pat and wonderful Rotch testers. What an amazing group we
all are, if I do say so myself.
As with Peter's posting, I just wanted to point out one or two items
which GeoPac does, in fact, do, if you just happen to be lucky enough
to click in the right place:
-How does one get a MARC display in Geopac. We didn't find one. Would
you have to replace the full display with a MARC display, or is there
an additional display window that can be configured to show MARC info?
We don't know of one. The option menu does have MARC as a choice, but
how do you invokea display?
You will invoke a MARC display by clicking on "Action" at the top of
the big GeoPac screen. (Hey, I just work here, don't blame me!)
-11.2.2.14 Need to know exact wording to use? Difficult for thesis
advisors: sometime works with advisor's last name only, sometimes with
both first and last name.
I'm a bit confused here. Remember that this item refers specifically
to 505 contents notes; the thesis search is not strictly speaking a
contents note search, but an "anyword" type search. As far as
first/last name access to thesis advisors, I'd love some examples;
I'll bet it's a result of how the information was provided by the
thesis author and/or the cataloger.
-11.2.3.3 Geac says it complies, but since there are many types of
searches from 11.2.2 that don't seem to work, how can you combine any
two or more indexed fields? Not clear at the very least how to do
this.
Well, this confused me, too, but Sam's response made me think that I'd
have had better results if I had a firmer grasp on the niceties of
Advance command-level searching. Bottom line is, it's really obscure!
-11.2.6 Are we authority controlled? Seems to work in CD-Barton, but
not in
Geopac.
I'll leave it to Sam to provide an accurate response, but here's my
version: CD-Bart is not really authorized. We did get some cross
references loaded in, but that's not the same as full authorization.
-11.4.1 Don't know; haven't been able to test much yet, but don't see
a disc option in the dialog window for printing.
Downloading in GeoPac is not a "Print" function. If you click on
"File" you will see an option to load to a text file; that's how you
do it.
Stay tuned!
