Grant has now set up logins to MIT's Advance database for serials and
acquisitions. If you take advantage of these logins to look at the Advance
system, please remember to tread lightly. None of us are very familiar
with Advance yet and we should all avoid doing anything we'd regret. So
feel free to look around the system, but please don't make changes to data
you find online unless you have been asked to do so. Also, remember that
this is our first GMA (Geac Migration to Advance) and we will have to iron
out many wrinkles before the final migration this summer.
To get to MIT's Advance system, telnet to emmy.mit.edu and use one of
these two logins...
Serials -- login:serial passwd:serial95
Acquisitions -- login:acquis passwd:acquis95
If you would like an icon to double-click on in Windows, you can get that
via hotwire. To do this, just exit to a DOS prompt and type "hotwire
wonder advance" then hit return. If DOS complains that you've entered a
"Bad command", try again. If you still get a complaint, send me a message
and I'll make sure you get a copy of hotwire. Make sure to follow the
instructions you get at the end of "hotwire wonder advance".
