Nina,
Pat and Linda and I worked on the current configuration of GeoPac, but I'm
sure we would all agree that it is not even meant to be perfect! We just
needed something a bit more respectable to present to our staff. This is
only a first draft, many changes can (and should) be made.
For instance, the three of us thought that it was a good idea to make the
basket list look just like the citation list with only a different
background color. Luckily, one thing GeoPac _is_ good at is letting others
reconfigure it to their hearts content. We should eventually settle on a
final staff configuration and (more importantly) public terminal
configuration, the current configuration is by no means a last word.
Finally (I do drag on in this evening e-mail), to get to your question...
Yes, we _could_ change the configuration we are distributing if we
_really_ wanted to. Do we _really_ want to? The current configuration has
alreaady started to make it's way out the door. (Any of you who have the
Hotwire tool can get it today by typing "hotwire bassas geopac" from a DOS
prompt and following instructions. If you want Hotwire, let me know.)
It is on at least 20 machines. If we _do_ change it we will have to
make sure everyone who already has it upgrades their configuration.
Just tell me what you want to do and I'll get it done, but my advice would
be to let GeoPac sink in for a bit before changing the distribution.
