There were a number of areas in Matt's earlier visit that we glossed
over that I would like to cover in more detail. What time does our
afternoon session start?
I'm assuming that you will forward this list onto Matt...
I. Importing Records
UBII, UBIX (p.5-4)
CSMDC (p4-7) as it relates to record import
CSAS Control of conflicting authorities on record import.
Indexing profiles (p. 5-5)
Duplicate checking on imported records (p. 6-6) I'm particularly
concerned about a statement on p. 6-7, 2d paragraph where it
talks about how the system selects the record it keeps when
there is a duplicate.
II. Brief records
'Conversion on the fly (DCF) and how this relates to Fast Cat in
Circ.
Creating customized workforms for brief records (BCW)
Managing and replacing brief records (8-8)
III. Holdings
MR mentioned something about the semi-colon as an indicator for
multivolume hierarchy information.
It might be helpful to spend a bit of time on complex mv
hierarchies involving supplements and indices.
IV. Indexing
The stopword list and article list menus. How do these get
edited? (DSTOP, DART)
VI. Global change (Chapter 10)
Could we go over this chapter?
Eric would also like to talk with Matt about the options for indexing
serial call numbers. Serials need to index call nubers from serial
summary holdings found in the (likely) 866. Is this a B.Index issue?
As you can see, we have alot to keep Matt busy.
