I'll try to make this short and to the point, but I have a problem
doing both at the same time -- If I'm unclear, please refer to my test
record "t=bobby hall test record" Please don't fiddle with it ... I'm
not finished yet!
When you add a call no. or a vol. to a record in the holdings display,
there is a place for you to separately add:
class and cutter
and for volumes there is a place for you to separately add:
volume no. and part no. (for example)
When the data was migrated, both of these fields were treated as a
single string, and no attempt was made to separate class/cutter, and
volume/part/band/teil/tome/tomo ...
The last few days saw quite a few messages to this list by yours
truly. I've solved one problem and not the other:
If you add v. and 1 and pt. and 1 in the appropriate places on the
holdings display record (e.g. label/description and numeration) the
entire numeration shows on the brief and full displays.
By doing the same to the call no. (e.g. separating class from cutter)
the problem of shelflisting is still a problem. One of the call nos. I
used on my test record is Z678.93.G43.H3 1995
c=z678.93.G
still brings you to the point between Z678.92.Z999 and Z678.93.A1
*but*
z=z678.93.G4
will bring you to the appropriate spot in the call no. index.
Thank you Stephen Skuce for putting a bug in my ear yesterday.
