Hi there! I hate to flood the netwaves, but I am looking to hire some
people to be network consultants in the dorms. If you or someone you know
might be good for this position, get a resume in my direction. If anyone
has questions, please direct them to me. By the way, you have to live in an
MIT undergrad dorm to be eligible.
Thanks,
mlb
Distributed Computing and Network Services is looking for a team of
approximately 20 student consultants to provide on-site support for network
users in the undergraduate dormitories. Primary tasks will include
assisting individual students in getting connected to MITnet, providing
bootstrap training, promoting responsible use of MITnet and the Internet,
and attending weekly training sessions. Consultants may also be asked to
work a limited number of hours on one of the Information Systems Help
Desks.
We will accept resumes until September 24. We hope to have the team hired
by the end of October. During the fall semester student consultants will be
required to attend two hours of training per week. Beginning in the spring
semester, student consultants will be required to work 7 to 10 hours per
week, including 1 hour of training. Even though we will train the teams,
candidate must have previous computer experience. In addition, a knowledge
of TCP/IP and/or AppleTalk would be beneficial. Hardware and/or software
troubleshooting experience is a definite plus.
If you think that you are qualified for this position, send a resume to
Michael Barrow, E40-331. If you have more questions, send email
<mlbarrow@mit.edu> or call x3-7664.
