I discovered something interesting last night about a students computer
with a built in network card (in the motherboard). According to the web
site of the motherboard manufacturer, if you upgrade the BIOS and clear
the CMOS at the same time, the machine will loose its mac address. They
provide a utility to reset it (you have to read the MAC address off a
label on the motherboard I think).
I am wondering what the network card does if it has no mac address?
Does it use all zero's?
The motherboard maker's web site is www.pcchips.com.
