I use a "deny tcp any any eq 7729" to kill the port campus wide.
That seems to stop the winMX for me.

Subject: Problems blocking WinMX
We have tried several attempts to block WinMX at Desales University,
with no
success. On our Cisco 7400 router we have tried blocking their base IP
address with the "deny tcp 147.106.x.x 0.0.0.255 216.187.68.15 0.0.0.0"
command but that did not work. Then we tried to block the port that
WinMX
uses, with the "deny tcp 147.106.x.x 0.0.0.255 any eq 7729" command, but
WinMX jumped to another port and continued to work. Does any one have
any
suggestions to aid us in our attempt to block WinMX? Any help would be
much
appreciated.
Thank you,
Kent Smith
