We are currently in the final stage (public pilot) of rolling out a
webmail solution based on Horde's IMP (http://www.horde.org/imp/). We're
pretty happy with it so far. It's robust and seems to scale well.

This was preceeded by a pretty extensive discovery project looking at a
variety of products and usage models. You may find the project notebooks
for both the discovery project and the currently in-progress delivery
project useful:
