Well, folks, I have sincerely enjoyed being on this list for the last
2.5 years. So much useful information, so many nice folks I've met
at SIGUCCS and ResNet conferences. But I am leaving the world of
computers and Hampshire College to go teach middle school problem
kids for a semester, and then hopefully to grad school in the fall
for my degree in "teaching history of world religions in secondary
ed" (the PRSE at Harvard Divinity School)

All this means for you guys is that my position is open at Hampshire.
For some details read on. Otherwise, farewell!!!

If you really want to be in the Pioneer Valley and like the
"alternative education" type atmosphere, by all means come! If
you're looking for a hot salary and cushy job... nosorry. :)
Anyway, my position (Client Computer Support Coordinator or something
- they're taking this opportunity to "restructure") oversees the
LabRATs (who are now officially IT CATs) - Lab & Residential
Assistant Technicians - the students that staff the lab (soon to be
labS) and do housecalls to students, and until this semester, to
fac/staff as well. We support Mac & PC - all OSes from 7.5.3 and
Win95 (respectively). We have a lot of Linux on campus, but IT
doesn't support them *officially* but... I am also responsible for
computing Orientation (Yes, all of it) as well as construction &
maintenance of the IT website & other documentation. The job is also
pretty much responsible for being the buck-stopper for ALL computer
problems on campus. Fac, staff, students, etc. So if you like chaos,
bad pay, dilbertian management and really awesome students &
fac/staff, come here!

It's been real!
