Here at Binghamton University we no longer route AppleTalk. Within the local
subnets AppleTalk is still used. Direct connect to Apple IP servers and P2P
between Macintosh OS workstations, across subnets is done by using Mac OS
version 9.x and is accomplished with TCP\IP.
I have been using Dave 2.5 for Macintosh for users that must connect to
Windows NT and 2000 servers. The advantage to this is, the users interface
to folders and files is the same as a user on a windows platform. Dave seems
to work well across Subnets using IP.
Hope this helps.

Subject: Appletalk
Hi.
We are undertaking this summer a major upgrade to our campus network. As
part of this project, we ideally would like to eliminate the appletalk
protocol from running over the network backbone.
Has anyone attempted to do this? Has anyone been successful?
Is anyone using DAVE or ExtremeZ-IP for providing file/print services to
Macs?
Thanks!
