We have just succeed in doing this exact thing.

I'm in the network group, but I know that the Desktop support group used
DAVE to provide file/print WinNT logon.

The person that set it up mentioned that they had a little problem on the
initial setup, but they got thru it with a miniority of problems.

I know when we took Appletalk off, it reduced the amount of broadcasts
greatly.

Subject: Appletalk

Hi.

We are undertaking this summer a major upgrade to our campus network. As
part of this project, we ideally would like to eliminate the appletalk
protocol from running over the network backbone.

Has anyone attempted to do this? Has anyone been successful?

Is anyone using DAVE or ExtremeZ-IP for providing file/print services to
Macs?

Thanks!
