We have multicasting video streams operational for over a year now. We
stream the opening of the academical year. Every year they try to find
new historical spots in the city and ask us to stream from there. Today
a stream is transmitted from a TV-production-car. First several yards of
UTP to the top of a church. Then a few hundred yards wireless and at the
end we stream it into an ADSL pipe from our local provider.

We have 1G to campus and per 500 students we have 300M. The students
have 10/100 in their room. By multicasting the total load on the network
is moderate.

streams will work outside our own network or outside The Netherlands.
