I'm sorry, I should have presented more information.

I'm going to sum up all the questions

It's Windows XP home.
I have physically stood in front of the box. We have tried different hub
ports, different jacks, and different Network cables. We have hard set the
network card to 10 Half, 10 full, 100 half, and 100 full.

There is no click box for Detect media. There is a check box to display an
Icon when disconnected, I have tried this in both the on and the off
position.

I have a green Link light on the network card.

I have the latest drivers from the manufacturer, I have the windows XP auto
detected driver.

I have turned the 802.1x authentication off.

The pins are not bent on either the jack or the network card. (will double
check this today)

We have a Fluke Network Assistant, it works fine on the network cable that
we are trying to use, as does the roommates computer.

Did I miss anything?

If I can't get it to work today, I'm going to recommend they take the
computer back and get a new one, or at least have the OS reloaded.

Subject: Windows XP Media Disconnected

Greetings all,

This one has us stumped

User has Windows XP, when you do a ipconfig, it returns "Media
Disconnected".

We have removed and reinstalled the driver, and physically removed the
card
and replaced it.

Any Ideas?
