Hey Adam,
We have a system that does something like that. We wrote it in-house and are planning on open-sourcing it in the near future (we have to scrub the sensitive data from it first).
I did a presentation that touched on this application at the ResNet conference last Summer. You can watch the video here: http://www.resnetsymposium.org/resnet2012/conference-schedule/presentations/#session6 - the part about what we call WebDesk starts around minute 48 [Yes, this is a plug for the Student Technology Conference, you should go]. It might be overkill for you, but I'd happily talk to you about it off-list (or on).
Once we get around to the open-sourcing, it'll be available on our github profile: https://github.com/mostateresnet
Thanks,
Clyde

Subject: Software for snailmail mailboxes in residence halls
I'm doing some consulting work with a university and they're looking for software that can help them assign and track snail mail mailboxes in their residence halls. They have been using some custom application that integrated with RMS, but RMS is no longer going to support that.
They are using Pitney Bowes to operate their mailroom.
Do any of y'all have any suggestions for software that can handle this?
For those of y'all with Pitney Bowes running your mailroom and mailboxes in the residence halls, how do y'all handle things?
Thanks.
