We just started the VPP this year, and ran into the same problem. We wanted to get software to all the machines, but didn't want to tie it to a single AppleID or hand out redemption codes like candy. The only hint we got from Apple was this:
http://support.apple.com/kb/HT4781
Essentially, they're telling you to download the software on ONE machine (which you log into with your AppleID), and then manually copy the software from there to the other computers that need the software. You don't end up using all the redemption codes that Apple gives you; you just keep those on file in case you're audited (you're responsible for making sure that you don't exceed the license count).
The upside is that you don't have to give out redemption codes or your AppleID info. The downside is that you have to find an easy way to copy the software from the "master" machine to all the other machines that deserve it. Also, the copies that get distributed WILL NOT be auto-updated by the App Store (because they weren't officially purchased on that machine), so you'll need to distribute updates by hand as well.
We settled on using Munki to do this; it allows you to easily bundle up the downloaded apps and distribute them to other computers according to a central policy. It looks like Software Update used to on Mac OS X, so users have an easy time hitting "Install Now" and automagically getting the latest versions of whatever they're entitled to.
We liked Munki so much, we went whole-hog and are now using it for all the site-license software we provide (MS Office, Adbobe, etc.).
