I pursued some wireless door locks with my Vendor ( http://www.lenel.com/ILS
)
Basically, it came down to how many doors are you planning on managing?
The vendor we used had experience implementing it, and recommended that if
you have one door, or two doors, it's effective, but anything more than
that, he strongly recommended just wiring back to a panel system. The long
term benefits (as you've noticed with your existing offline system) are
just so much better.
