Are IT Services and the Library one organization or separate entities?
- Separate Entities
Do you have an information commons in your library?
- Yes
Do you have an IT Help Desk in the Information Commons?
- Yes
Where is your IT Help Desk located in relation to other service desks like
the Library reference and circulation desks? For example are the combined?
Do students first see the IT help desk or the a library service desk like
reference or circulation? Etc.
- Upon entering the Library/Learning Commons our walk up service desk is
straight ahead, the first thing you see, the circulation desk is to the
left.
What other IT related services do you offer in your information commons?
- Our Commons houses all our frontline support, including our Call Center
and walk up Service Desk. It also houses our Tier 2 student software repair
center, but that all of the check-ins for that are done through our service
desk. We also have our on-campus Copy Center right next to our IT service
desk. Other services of the Commons include a coffee shop, writing center
for help with papers, speaking center for help with speeches, laptops
available for checkout, desktop computers in "pods" for collaborative work,
and our high end media center with video and audio equipment and software.
We also have several collaboration rooms available for reservation.
Are these other services co-located with your help desk or are they
separate service areas?
- Most are separate service areas.
Do you offer IT application software training and tutoring services? If so,
where are these located?
- Our high end media center offers assistance and training on it's
equipment and software during scheduled hours. Beyond that we do not offer
any major training sessions for students beyond help at the help desk. For
Fac/Staff we have a training lab in a separate building with scheduled
classes and open lab hours.
