Yes, we have a success story!!! Someone on this list pointed us to a 
tool called "Defprof.exe" you can use to copy a user's profile to the 
default user profile... it is not a built in Windows tool, you can 
download it from here

We created a local user called "setup" and logged in and made all of our 
changes then you reboot the machine and log in as the local 
administrator and run "defprof.exe setup" to copy the setup user's profile.

There are some things that didn't translate over so we handle those 
items with Group Policies.

Let me know if you run into any gotchas and we may have some advice 
since we customized the crap out of our VMware View desktops :-)
